Electricity fun

A useful ten days in Franceville teaching NT Greek at the AoG night school - well to the pastor and one other in the end, oh well - and working on a draft translation of Luke 22 with Albert and Alice and one or two others as they came along haphazardly. It would be nice to get the whole of Luke 22-24 finished and available in trial format before Easter but I doubt we'll manage - too many tough terms still ahead and probably a total of less than ten mornings available. Oh well, it will be good to have for any season.

And what a welcome home - a day without electricity. Well not entirely true. When I arrived the electricity was on and stayed that way for the next few hours - just enough time to defrost my little fridge (the electricity had evidently gone off several times while I was and partially defrosted and re-frozen the ice-box in the fridge rendering it totally inaccessible). Unfortunately, within a couple of hours of it fully defrosting and my getting the thing loaded with all my goodies from Franceville (well ok, 1/2 kg each of meat and chicken and a little ham, but that's as much as the ice-box can hold) the electricity disappeared! Presumably there was a major storm somewhere and something major got hit - here in Léconi there was only distant lightning, which admittedly lasted all night, but never amounted to much. So far (20 hours later) it hasn't come back and I dread to think what is happening to the meat and chicken. If the electricity doesn't come back in the next few hours it looks like I'll be having a major cook-up this evening! I'm so grateful for my solar panel which is keeping my computer going today and will give me light in the living room and kitchen tonight.
