Translation and more

The first week of July found me back in Franceville to work with Albert and Alice and somethimes one or two others. We had several objectives:
To finish working through the transition literacy manual so that Alice and Albert can themesleves transcribe the draft translations they will work and compose other documents in Latege. Hm, well, we finished the manual and Alice in particular can read reasonably fluently but they've not really tried writing anything beyond the exercises in the book, so it remains to be seen how well they've mastered that.
To draft translate the next section of the booklet on the life of Abraham. We got on reasonably well with that.
To test the draft of Luke 22-24. Failed on that one.
To create a list of mini-projects for Alice and Albert to do with others during my absence in England. Well, creating the list was the easy part, but we didn't actually come up with any timeline or deadlines, nor with anything but very vague guidelines about how to do them so it remains to be seen how much is realised.

Still, overall it seemed like a week well spent and since my birthday fell in the middle of it I took advantage for a double mini celebration with danish pastries for breakfast with the translation team and ice-cream at half-time in the evening world cup with the family I was staying with.
